What we handle for you

Clearing in Nigeria involves several agencies and documents. We manage the process so your goods are not left waiting.

HS code classification

We classify your goods correctly, because the HS code decides the duty you pay and the permits you need.

Form M support

We guide you through opening Form M with your bank before the goods ship, and check the details match your invoice.

PAAR processing

We follow up the Pre-Arrival Assessment Report with Nigeria Customs so clearing can start as soon as your cargo lands.

Duty and levies

We calculate the duty and taxes due, show them as a separate line in your quote and handle payment.

Permits for regulated goods

Food, drugs, cosmetics and many manufactured goods need NAFDAC or SONCAP documents. We tell you early what applies.

Examination, release and delivery

We attend examination, secure release from the terminal and truck your goods to your address.

Checklist

Documents you will need

Having these ready is the single biggest factor in how quickly your goods clear.

Missing something? Send what you have and we will tell you what else is needed.

  • Commercial invoice from your supplier
  • Packing list with weights and dimensions
  • Bill of lading (sea) or air waybill (air)
  • Form M, opened through your bank before shipping
  • PAAR, issued by Nigeria Customs
  • Permits for regulated goods, such as NAFDAC or SONCAP
  • Insurance certificate, if the cargo is insured

Common causes of clearing delays

Most delays at Nigerian ports are avoidable. These are the ones we work hardest to prevent.

Wrong HS code

Leads to the wrong duty, Customs queries and possible penalties.

How we prevent it: we confirm the classification before your goods ship.

Form M or PAAR not ready

Cargo sits at the terminal while storage charges build up.

How we prevent it: we check both are in place before arrival.

Missing permits

Regulated goods can be held until NAFDAC or SON requirements are met.

How we prevent it: we tell you what applies at the quote stage.

Late collection

Terminal storage and shipping line demurrage start once free days run out.

How we prevent it: we plan delivery before the cargo arrives.

Customs clearing questions

How long does customs clearing take in Lagos?

It depends on the cargo, the port and whether the documents are complete. When Form M, PAAR and any permits are in order, clearing moves much faster. We give you a realistic estimate for your shipment when we quote.

Do I need Form M before my goods ship?

For most imports into Nigeria, yes. Form M is opened through an authorised bank before the goods are shipped. If it is missing, clearing can be delayed, so we check it early.

Can you clear goods that are already at the port?

Yes. Send us the bill of lading or air waybill and any documents you have, and we will tell you what is needed to get your goods released.

Is customs duty included in your quote?

We show estimated duty and taxes as a separate line next to our clearing fee, based on the HS code and declared value, so you can see what goes to Customs and what is our charge.
